Babe Lash Bamboozled Me

Babe Lash infiltrated my IG feed with a plethora of promoted posts and sponsored posts from micro-influencers, and I’m sure I’m not the only one. If you haven’t heard of the brand, they got their rising popularity from their lash serum and have expanded with brow serums and mascara. What can I say, I was persuaded by the promise of long full lashes and made the purchase.

I used it for a total of two nights and this is how it went down. The morning after the first night, I woke up and my eyes were a little red but I thought nothing of it. It had been raining so I brushed my itchy eyes off to the side blaming allergies. Fast forward to the next morning after using it for two nights. I wake up only to realize my eyes were nearly swollen shut, crusty, painful, all-around disgusting. Still being oblivious, I didn’t think it was anything other than seasonal allergies (it was the day before Christmas give me a break ok). Once I could see, I noticed that aside from the PAIN, my eyeballs were bloodshot, and my eyelids and all surrounding areas were a red/purplish color, swollen, and I looked like I got into a gnarly fight that I did not win.

I shrieked when I looked in the mirror and my only plan was to run to Ulta and find something to color correct the mess that my face had become. Knowing I had to see my entire family for the holiday I was in a hurry to fix my zombie appearance so unfortunately, the only photos I ended up getting were during my shambled drive home.

Despite the bad quality and angle, you can still see I do not look okay. The discoloration around my eyes was so prominent since I’m pasty, and my eyeballs had a bloodshot streak running across them. And it felt like it. It hurt to open my eyes and it hurt to close them. I’ve never had my eyeballs lit on fire or cut open, but I’d imagine it feels similar to this.

Later that night it still hadn’t gotten better, and I realized pollen could not be to blame for this. With the only change to my routine being Babe Lash, I figured she had to be the culprit. When I took off my makeup, I noticed I had swollen purple lines across my upper and lower lash line- right where I put the lash serum.. interesting.

The next day the swelling had all gone down and most of the discoloration was gone. However, the pain was still there and my bloodshot eyes were still very visible. This lasted for a whopping FIVE (5) days. Yup. Five days of being told I look high. Five days of not wearing any product around my eyes. Five days of looking like I’m about to cry because my eyes wouldn’t stop watering. I know that any product can have side effects like irritation or redness, but a week-long allergic reaction?! Babe Lash pls I am not the one.

The lash serum retails for about $60. I have tried Grande Lash lash serum and Rodan and Fields Lash Boost, which both retail for around the same price, and had nothing close to this happen. If you’re looking for some lash growth, any serum could do the trick. But unless you want to look like a human raccoon with rabies or someone who died and halfway came back to life, stay away from Babe Lash.

Has anyone else tried Babe Lash and had a similar or different result? Have you tried a good serum that you like? Or even a good DIY recipe that worked for you? Let me know!
