I BROKE MY FOOT :(

It seems fitting that me of all people would be lucky enough to get injured during a time where there is literally nothing to do. Technically my foot isn’t broken. My big toe is completely broken and my second toe is fractured, but I’m still needing to wear an ugly cast shoe and walk with crutches (not a good look on me). Just a warning, I’m putting some nasty pictures of my foot in here.

Long story short: a 100 pound bench crushed my foot. The short story doesn’t make a ton of sense, and unfortunately the long story isn’t even that good. It’s a lose lose lose situation (cause both stories suck and an extra loss because I can’t walk). But here’s what happened: I was at my boyfriends house and me and one of his roommates were trying to catch crackers in our mouths. I was standing behind said roommate who was sitting on the unnecessarily heavy bench. He fell backwards off the bench, which caused it to fall from under him and crush my foot.

I stood there for a minute, trying to be tough and not yet realizing the extent of the pain before I started screaming. My boyfriend carried me to the couch and removed my sock to find my toes gushing blood and already turning purple. I called my mom because I had no idea what to do and was currently experiencing the worst pain I had ever felt in my entire life. After convincing myself it wasn’t broken, I endured the worst night of my life, feeling like the bench was just repeatedly crushing my foot.

The next morning it was clear that my toe was going the wrong direction, and there was some bone about to break skin underneath my toe. I didn’t want to go to the hospital because I don’t have corona so it felt selfish. But it was very clear it was broken, and a nurse friend of mine informed me that if it wasn’t taken care of I could have a limp for the rest of my life.

After a long three hours at the hospital they told me what I already knew and sent me on my way without any pain medicine. The first two days were agony, but now that I’m on my 5th day since it happened it’s mostly sore and annoying. I just want to go on a walk when it’s nice out at night or be able to get myself a drink.

It definitely could be worse, and I guess it happened during a good time since I’m not working anyway, but this is the first bone I’ve broken and boy did it HURT. So if you find yourself super bored during quarantine, take a walk for me.
