The Pueblo Life Plant Shop

In previous years I was a well-known plant murderer. I, unfortunately, realized I had a black thumb after killing a succulent garden, then a cactus, then a BAMBOO, and vowed to never own a plant again. This was about 3 years ago.

This all changed when I got invited to go plant shopping. I went for moral support, but have since become a successful plant mom.

My friend took me to Pueblo Life, an indoor plant shop in Phoenix. It was SO CUTE. Immediately upon walking in, this place looked like all my Pinterest/Tumblr home decor dreams come to life. They had all the typical houseplants along with a huge selection of new plants I’d never even heard of. And they were SO PRETTY.

I love supporting small businesses and shopping local, but I had no intention of actually buying something living. Until I saw a plant with a sign in it with care instructions that read, “Neglect Me,” and I thought, I can do that.

Each type of plant had a little note with what it was and the care it needed. While browsing I saw a cute plant with pink stripes on it, so obviously I needed it. But I was terrified of being the cause of death yet again for something so beautiful.

The guy working was so helpful and patient with me. I explained my embarrassing plant history and he helped me understand how I could keep up with my plants in the easiest way possible. He also said I could DM them on Insta with any questions and concerns (dangerous offer). I have sent them so many pictures of my plants asking if they are okay and they have been so responsive and reassuring in my parenting skills.

I left with a new zz plant (the neglect me one) and a new calathea ornata (pink stripey plant) and to my surprise, they are doing GREAT. The guy working told me it would be easier to keep my plants healthy if I set reminders to water them and invested in a little diffuser or humidifier to keep the air around them moist, and oh baby is it working.

Pueblo was so pretty inside so of course, I had a photo shoot in there, and nobody seemed to care. Whether you are in need of a new background for a photoshoot, or in need of a new houseplant, Pueblo is the place to go.

They keep their Instagram updated pretty much daily with the new plants they get, and whatever is going on in the shop. I recommend following them even if it’s just to get some new inspo.

I ended up getting this mini humidifier so it would be by my plants on a shelf without a chord dangling around, and it’s been working great so far. I ended up going to Ikea that same day and snagging this pink pot for $5, and this white pot for $2. I have “WATER PLANT” written on my calendar every 4 days so I remember, but it’s already starting to become a habit. It also feels so good knowing I can actually keep a plant alive. It’s the little things lol.

Anyway, thanks Pueblo Life for this little bit of serendipity. My plants continue to be the gifts that keep on giving by looking so beautiful in my room and giving me such a strong sense of pride and joy.
